Ramblin Roy's Ramblings
April 2003
Ramblin Roy’s been ramblin around town NETWORKING. Networking
is a powerful and extremely effective concept. Webster says it’s the
developing of contacts or exchanging of information with others in an informal
network..... So why? What was the objective?
The
short answer is C >cause our Director, Jerry, asked me too. An expanded
response includes, tapping the expansive resources available to CLC members from
both within and outside the club. Let’s first look at the outside resources
because it directly satisfies other immediate needs, like door prizes and goodie
bag items for the 25th Anniversary celebration plus funds to expand
the Herald w/o increasing dues.
The
club has been introduced to 100 commercial businesses, most of these are family
owned and operated. More than 25 of who have reached into their bank
accounts to advertise and / or donate gifts to the club totaling
more than $8,000.00. THIS INCLUDES 15 NEW ADVERTISERS FOR THE HERALD &
THE WEB SITE PLUS THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS WORTH OF GIFTS FOR DISTRIBUTION AT THE
25th ANNIVERSARY PARTY.
These
are all HIGH QUALITY, mostly local suppliers, many family owned
and operated. A NETWORK, in addition to our traditional
advertisers, available to serve you, and at the same time, serve our club and
their ventures. Everyone wins!
To
keep this a WIN WIN it’s important you let these people
know you’re a CLC member when you visit their establishments. You’ll be
treated with respect and care, receive a good value plus encourage them to
continue to support your club.
In
future months an essay documenting each companies credentials will appear with a
full-page ad. For now please check em out and take advantage of this networking.
Now for
the internal networking. We have a membership full of knowledge, experiences and
expertise's. Lets share. Some of us practice our vocations for fun and profit
while others are retired. Some of us have volumes of information on our
avocations to be shared just for fun. Regardless, lets develop a network of
member’s specialties.
